Right! Systems Raises $1,235 for the Northwest Kidney Kids
A handful of Right! Systems team members took part in the Strut Your Kidney – a dash for NW Kidney Kids 5K this past Sunday, September 22nd, at Sellwood Riverfront Park in Portland, OR. All proceeds from this event went to the Northwest Kidney Kids organization, supporting children battling chronic kidney disease.
Northwest Kidney Kids, Inc. was founded in 2006 to provide support and education to children with chronic kidney disease and their family members. NW Kidney Kids is the only organization focusing on serving youth (birth -18) with chronic kidney disease and their families in the Northwest. Kidney disease is a lifelong illness. There is no cure. Children and their families need tools to manage this chronic condition. NW Kidney Kids’ mission is to offer hope and support to these children and their families. They provide prevention services, educational programs, and group activities that empower Kidney Kids to take charge of their health, embrace their future, and achieve lifelong success.

Our team, “Right! Systems’ Portland Kidney Transplant Awareness Fun Run Team” (a reference to an episode of The Office), met up on a drizzly Sunday morning for a refreshing run/walk in support of this great cause!
It turned out to be quite a rainy morning, but that didn’t stop our team, along with all of the other participants and volunteers, from having fun. Before the race started, there were vendors and organizations, all related to the cause, to inform people about what they do, along with games and activities for families to enjoy.
Some of the Northwest Kidney Kids and their siblings gathered by the start to (adorably) count down the race from 10…(see video below), and we were off! The out and back route took us over the Sellwood Bridge with views of Downtown Portland and into Willamette Park. There were tons of enthusiastic volunteers and cheer squads along the way.
Our company is very proud to support such an important cause. With the generosity of Right! Systems’ staff members and executives, we were able to surpass our original goal of $500 and raised a grand total of $1,235 for the NW Kidney Kids! We hope to continue this trend of philanthropy and team bonding in the future!
